How To Clean Acrylic Sheet

How to clean acrylic sheet. If your acrylic window still needs a bit of cleaning after you ve removed the top layer of dust and dirt use clear water to clean it. By agressivley rubbing the plexiglass or acrylic you may accidently scratch the surface. Never use a dry cloth or your hand to clean your acrylic. Doing this rubs the dirt and dust into the material as much as it rubs it off.
When applying cleaner use a non abrasive lint free or microfiber cloth that won t scratch the surface. First blow the dust or dirt off with air or use water and a soft cloth to float the dirt off. After you have wiped the entire piece of acrylic use the dry side of the cloth to buff the area and remove any lingering liquid or suds. We do not recommend cleaning agents such as white spirit and glass cleaners glassex because these do not dissolve solid dirt particles such as sand and dust.
How to remove light stains and debris from plexiglass and acrylic if your acrylic sheet has a light amount of stains or soil on its surface use clean water to wash it. Sweep your cloth over both sides of your acrylic to remove any loose dust or dirt. Wipe gently until the cleaner is totally gone. Cleaning plexiglass or acrylic is best done with soapy water and a soft microfibre cloth.
Sand the plexiglass to remove deep scratches or markings. Acrylic sheeting can be damaged by harsh solvents and cleaners. Then use a recommended cleaner to complete the job. For tough grease oil or tar residue use commercial grade hexane or kerosene.
Blotting is a helpful cleaning technique that helps avoid scratching acrylic. Simply repeat the process of dropping water onto the surface of the acrylic and blot it dry with a microfiber cloth. Buffing or polishing the plexiglass surface reduces the risk of future stains allowing for more time between cleanings. Sand the acrylic just like you would with a piece of wood by hand or with a sander.
Wash plexiglas sheet with a mild soap or detergent and a lukewarm water solution. Use a commercial plastic cleaner or mild soap and water to remove dirt and debris. Simply drop water on to its surface and blot it dry with a microfiber cloth. Use a clean soft cloth or sponge and as much solution as possible.
